How long do you think it'll be before vandals start doing things like this? :)

Oi! you watch it!!!!! Clearly you Massachusetts types don't understand the seriousness of the situation.....

Surely Anne understand my grief even if she has sold out and moved south of the border.

Actually, I'm one of those Maine types. I just live in Massachusetts. Decide for yourself whether that's worse. :)

And, feel free to mock the oddball hangups of my home state. Lord knows I do. ;)

A Masshole and a Mainiac, could you have any more strikes against you?
2003.05.05 04:45 pm (UTC)
Having to pass through New Hampshire to get from one to the other is Penance enow.
2003.05.05 04:53 pm (UTC)
Ouch! I suppose I deserved that :)
2003.05.05 07:31 pm (UTC)
Well, yes, I could, in theory. But I didn't grow up in Hallowell, and I'll never move to Southie.

Hmm.

I have relatives in Wyoming, can I get demerits for that?
2003.05.05 08:48 pm (UTC)
Possible... have you been to visit them and did you secretly like it there?
2003.05.06 06:27 am (UTC)
yes, but no. he got bitten by a prairie dog.

Serious? Isn't that sort of like being bitten by a chipmonk? I thought those things were afraid of people...

Indeed - how would those of us from The Bay State feel if suddenly, Back Bay weren't a Bay anymore?

(...wait a sec. Ah, hell.)

Oh, and for the record, this is the best headline I've read in months:

"Benson Names Merrill Chair of Old Man Task Force"

(Dear Guys: It fell down. Leave it there. Don't be stupid. Sincerely, me.)
2003.05.05 11:56 am (UTC)
butbutbut it's the Old Man, man! It can't be allowed to fall down. It's like the living... um... well, not living, but... living symbol of New Hampshire!

I mean, shit, if Mount Katahdin fell down, you'd want to put it back, wouldn't you? :)

I say we get an army of excavators and disassemble the thing... then he'll understand the horror of the situation.
2003.05.05 12:07 pm (UTC)
Heeeeey... "sold out and moved south of the border?" Who's living in, what, North Carolina now? :)

That said, no, kviri Does Not Understand. But I mock his home state enough that I can't really complain. :)

Hey I'm in New Hampshire right now... I'm here when it matters, now that the state is trying to cope with this tragedy.

I was listening to the news earlier and suddenly the ludicrousy of the situation struck me, on Saturday the governor is going to lead a memorial service for a giant pile of rubble.

Meanwhile my mother is quite convinced that the demise of the old man is the state's way of letting us know that it doesn't approve of our new governor. What do you think, will it affect his political career?

Nothin' wrong with a little pagan thinking. It was the first thing I wondered, myself. :)

Except that, in this case, it just isn't logical - I mean, I don't know anything about the new governor, but I refuse to believe he's all that much worse than Jeanne Shaheen, and the Old Man didn't fall down on her watch. Or the watch of any of the other crappy governors we've had over the years. Sounds like random chance to me.

Of course, there is always the possibility that good old mother nature finally got fed up with the idiots in the NH governor's office. Took her long enough. :)

Ah but the new governor is a Masshole and he bought the election.
2003.05.06 06:26 am (UTC)
As opposed to the new governor of Massachusetts, who's a Mormon and bought the election.

YMTC...

Yes but it's more shocking for us because we pride ourselves on our politics, it's our favorite sport... we pride ourselves on casting our votes where they will make the biggest difference (which means we don't always vote for who we want to win). But to elect Benson, it's something that a regular-non-politically-obscessed-state would do.

Also we don't actually like people from Mass
